Digital Motion X-Ray

Why Digital Motion X-ray (DMX)

Digital Motion X-ray (DMX) is a new type of fluoro-based x-ray system allowing clinician’s to view the spine in real-time motion. This procedure is performed with the patient standing and moving.

Patients - Connective Tissue Injury-Ligament Damage (Spinal instability)

The patient has been rear-ended in a car accident or possibly fell and hurt his/her neck and head in some sport event. His/her neck and head began to hurt (possible whiplash) and shortly afterwards the patient started bumping into things, having a balance disorders besides neck pain and headaches. After being treated, having x-rays and MRIs done, doctors still couldn’t determine what was causing the pain. The patient is in pain and no one can find where it is coming from.</p >

can help unlock the mystery of the pain.

The answer to correctly pinpointing a patient’s injury and diagnosing their condition is a technology available called Digital Motion X-Ray (DMX). DMX goes a step beyond static x-ray by utilizing a new generation of fluoro-based x-rays combined with digital and optic technologies.

When patients are administered a DMX, they are asked to move. Pain is more likely to intensify during movement and viewing the results of this test gives the doctor greater insight into the source and the location of an injury. DMX provides never-before-seen insight into ligament injuries which have been undetectable using static imaging methods. DMX help to spot where the injuries are.

Static x-rays are used to mainly detect dislocation, fractures, or possible tumors. However, not all forms of trauma and injury, especially whiplash, can be definitively diagnosed using traditional x-ray, MRIs or CT scans. Stretched, or loose, ligaments can only be detected by motion imaging. Dr. Brodkin can determine which ligaments are damaged using this effective and accepted methodology.

  • TMJ problems - Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ) is also a big component of many complaints after a car accident. Sometimes the problem doesn’t develop until weeks after an accident. DMX shows the movement of the jaw and problems with the opening and closing of the mouth.
  • DMX is an actual digital movie, or motion x-ray. Your results can be printed and burned to a CD or DVD.
  • Doctors - As a diagnostic tool to objectively demonstrate ligament instability and soft tissue injuries

DMX can help you respond with a more comprehensive course of treatment for patients. DMX can lead to faster, more reliable diagnosis, better and fuller course of treatment. It is a tool for documenting every projection for cervical, upper extremities and TMJ. A report can be generated to show the different pain areas. Sometimes the pain is not where the injury resides which can be seen on a DMX and its report.

- Prove ligament injuries and joint instability

Digital Motion X-ray (DMX) provides visual, objective proof of painful and permanent ligamentous injuries. DMX can reveal several levels of cervical instability and vertebra abnormalities including, but not limited to, severe unilateral translation at C1 on C2, multiple levels of capsular ligament damage, possible compression fractures and interspinous and longitudinal ligamentous injuries.

DMX helps attorneys with depositions, mediations and courtroom presentation by objectifying injuries that could never be seen before. Attorneys must show proof of injury for the client to receive remuneration; DMX can increase settlements for patients who have ligamentous injuries that MRI, CT, and static x-rays cannot detail.
